ABOUT ME
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Đỗ Duy (he/him) is a Vietnamese-American award-winning filmmaker. He is the co-head of MINECO PICTURES, where he frequently collaborates with fellow filmmaker and cinematographer Jordan Pringle.
Đỗ is studying for an MFA in Television and Film Production at San Diego State University, where he previously completed his undergraduate degree in 2025. For his latest project, Gà Lavabo (which is being developed into his first feature-length film), Đỗ won the Best Production Design Award at the Fall 2024 SDSU Emerging Filmmakers' Showcase and Best International Director at the 2025 Festival Aruanda in Brazil. Đỗ has also earned the Outstanding Student Graduate Award for the School of Television, Theatre, and Film in 2025.
Inspired by his cultural identity and family history, of resilience and humanity, Đỗ's primary focus in filmmaking is to highlight unique Vietnamese and Asian American stories through a classical film perspective. He strives to cement his people into the pantheon of cinema and create stories that bridge Eastern and Western styles.
